Workout Wednesday : my weekly schedule and why I love interval training

^^ from my Insta-Stories

I have shared many interval treadmill sessions that I love in my weekly Workout Wednesday posts. I love to change up the speed and incline while I am on treadmill for two reasons:

1. It keeps me from getting bored. - I love love love to run. But how can anyone not get bored on the treadmill. I have shared my entertainment secret hundreds of times {I only allow myself to watch certain shows while working out. 'Scandal' and 'Designated Survivor' are my current go tos. I am also in a 'Suits' abyss, but I "allow" myself to watch this wherever. Folding laundry, cooking dinner, right now... hi Megan Markle!}.
But no matter what show you are totally hooked on, the treadmill can get boring. If I know that I am switching up the difficulty every so often, I am so focused on that, and my show, that the 3.5 miles passes in a blink of an eye.

2. It makes for a better workout. - Not only will this improve your mile time, you will get a better workout in a quicker time. You can trot along at 5.7 mph and not burn as many calories if you did sprints every 3 minutes. If you are training for a distance run, or are looking to torch some calories, I recommend interval training.
