I try to make my blog relatable.

I try to mix price points, looks, innovative ideas {like boots in scarves in the fall...sandals in the summer..}. Yet, there are somethings that I won't be blogging about. Such as the best winter coat to buy for heavy snowfall or how to legitimize $550 for a pair of beat up sneaks. {seriously. It's a thing. Check it out here. I am shocked. Especially since I am constantly trying to keep my shoes pristine.}

And while I try to be inspiring to your wardrobe and daily, girly life with my posts, I can't fight that I am a skinny jeans and cute top kind of girl. Add this to the growing list on why I am a bad blogger. BUT...this is what I like to wear, this is what I am most comfortable in and therefore you see this on repeat on outfit posts.

SOOO... between that and my need for any cute top that I can find for under $100, this top was a no brainer.  I was a little nervous when it arrived and I realized that it wasn't lined, but in these photos I am wearing a nude bra and it doesn't look or feel too risqué. Don't forget: I'm a mom.

5 THINGS

1. I have been telling myself I would get better at speaking Spanish for 7 years. And then my plan was to relearn Italian. My Spanish is beginner conversational at best but I was always able to communicate with my Spanish speaking patients when I was a nurse, with confidence

2. It is my daily goal to make everyone happy. And workout. I have had recent success with both {I love the Tone it Up girls and their quick but effective workouts. Watch their videos for free on YouTube.}

3. Our bed is better than any hotel bed. I promise. {thanks Jerome's}

4. I was the first person that went to college at TCU in the history of my high school. Now they send at least one a year.

5. I don't understand people who like little dogs. Get a cat or get a dog.

1. RUGBY POLO // 2. VELVET SLINGBACK SLIDES // 3. PINK BLAZER // 4. BOYFRIEND JEANS // 5. OVERSIZED CASHMERE SWEATER // 6. CARGO SKINNY PANTS // 7. CARMEL BLAZER // 8. WHITE RUFFLE TOP

In college, I prided myself on being incredibly fratty.

Where I went to college was very heavy Greek, meaning a large majority of the college population was in a sorority or fraternity. The university would say it was under half of the student population but being in a sorority myself, it felt like there were the athletes and the fraternities and sororities with some overlap.

My junior year I would love to wear an oversized rugby polo that was my brother's. After many years of love and many washes, it was cute, fitted and original. I would pair another polo underneath to match the color of the polo man, both with collars popped. I would air dry them, hanging upside down, so the collars would be stiff and perfect {and easy} to pop. So...duh! I ordered #1 and in every color.

#2 is the ultimate ladylike shoe. I have a ton of navy and gray in my winter wardrobe, so I am exited to pair these shoes with cozy cashmere {hello #5!} for a lush pop of color. One of my favorite purchases from a couple of seasons ago {that no longer fit. too large. high five momma!}, were these cargo pants in olive green, that I will most likely recycle in an outfit post coming up. So I am excited to buy them in all three colors as a way to mix up the high waisted skinny jeans that you see me wearing weekly.

You never have enough white tops {#8} and the idea of a carmel blazer paired with stripes for fall is the ultimate fall outfit. I have never tried boyfriend jeans from this retailer, so I am exited to try #4. And I just order this in black and white.

matte lips

matte pink lips

I have already worn this lip liner down once. It is by far the most used item in my vanity and it looks good with all of my lipsticks. I paired it with a new neutral shade of lip liner and loved that it toned down the pink color.

Start by lining your lips in  MAC LIP LINER in 'Subculture'. Then do a light coat of BURT'S BEES GRAPEFRUIT CHAP STICK. Then fill in your lips with  MAC LIP LINER in 'Edge to Edge', blotting as you go to fill in the color without using too much pigment. Finish by re-lining your lips in MAC LIPLINER in 'Subculture'.

What I love about doing my lip color with these lip liners is they feel extremely light and do not transfer easy. By using the chapstick, the color goes on smooth and without much effort and your lips don't dry out. I prefer to do my lip color this way then I don't feel like I have to fight the urge for snuggles or kisses from my littles or worry about getting lip color on my husband's collar when he gets home.

Other makeup items I am wearing : EYESHADOW PALETTE {I used my finger to apply Mugshot on the middle to outer lids then my finger to apply Dust from the middle to inner lips and inner corner} // NAVY BLUE EYELINER {I went on the waterline in the upper outer eyelid and lower outer waterline} // MASCARA { do one coat on the upper of each, then back to the lower. Recap the mascara and do another coat on each upper lid}. // BROW GEL

seersucker toddler monogram backpack

With school right around the corner, you know that I couldn't send off my little princess without her very own MONOGRAMMED BACKPACK AND LUNCH PAIL, did you? While I am shocked in wonder how my little girl grew up so fast and that I have entered the time of life that I am a "preschool mom," I cautiously and excitedly send off my little one into the world.

#MomTruth...it is only two days a week for three hours a day. I am apart from her longer on date night or when she goes on playdates with my mom. Nevertheless, I already tear up when I think about it. Any ideas on how to slow down time?  I am very thankful that she has a fall birthday, therefore buying me an extra school year before she needs to start school five days a week.

orange lace pj set

Y'all know that I love a good closet clean out. As the nights of midnight breast feedings are behind us, forever, and we come close to an end of breastfeeding all together {again, how did this happen???}, I recently cleaned out my pajama collection and added some new cute ones. I am hoping to get a dedicated post up soon, but in the mean time, I cannot do laundry quick enough to keep this ORANGE LACE SET in my pj drawer. It is so soft but still a little sexy with the lace detailing. At under $20, I recently picked up this color as well

jellycat lion

Sometimes kids pick their own 'lovey' or animal/possession that goes with them everywhere. On the night we revealed to our family that Madrid was going to be girl, my mom gave me this after she learned the hard way with my brother to have your child fall in love with a small item that you will inevitably tote everywhere for the foreseeable future.

She gave my brother a handmade quilt which was well loved but bulky and went with them everywhere for his toddler years. That is why she gave me a tiny rag and that is why she gave me this Bunny Lovey that would easily fit into every purse. Early on, when Madrid began to love this bunny and prefer to cuddle with it for naps, we lost it so I had to rush order 3 more. After this small investment, her cousin gave her this LION STUFFED ANIMAL, who quickly became irreplaceable. He has come with us everywhere, even a swim or two and we have some replacements safety tucked away in case he gets misplaced. His name is Lion and she never falls asleep without him.

I got this Monkey for Leo hoping he would fall in love with it like Madrid has with Lion, but ironically, he loves her original Bunny!

blush bow slides

My husband calls them crazy old lady shoes, yet I have been stopped multiple times with compliments and inquiries about these BLUSH BOW SLIDES. You will be surprised that that are under $25 and where they are from! They are beyond comfortable and go with everything from cute tops {as seen in this outfit post} to workout clothes and everything in between. The slide trend is a trend that I actively fought, but when I found these in the blogger neutral shade of blush, I gave in to the trendy. If you feel the same way, the comfort alone will have you sitting next to me on the bandwagon!

baby feeding pouch

Our little man is growing so much! He began "cruising" yesterday, moving slowly while standing and holding onto the couch. He probably doesn't need these FEEDING POUCHES much anymore, but when we began to give me food, they were a life saver.

Given to me by a fellow nurse, you but any food you want in them for the baby to mash with their gums. This decreases on choking hazard, mom worry and time on cutting up food. I recently sent some to my cousin in Mexico with a little one and she thought they were the coolest thing. Even now, even though Leo can easily handle an almond butter sandwich, I will put large blueberries in them or uncut grapes so I don't have to worry about the little prince choking.

I really can't recommend these jeans enough.

While we round the end of summer {how did that happen?}, I am excited to wear them my favorite light tops. It is warm enough for this in San Diego until about mid November...But they will be equally cute with cashmere and boots. Come on September!

As a mom, they are the ultimate non-mom "mom" jeans. High waisted, ankle length and budget friendly, they are amazing. I have them in multiple washes and you should too!

5 THINGS

1. My college mascot was a Horned Frog. The real name is a horny toad lizard. Not truly a frog or amphibian at all.

2. I rode horses for 20 years while growing up. The last 10, I competed in Dressage.

3. I was convince when I was little that my parent's stole me from my real family. We all look so much alike, so I have no idea why I thought this.

4. I let my daughter pick my pedicure colors. Sometimes, it isn't my favorite but she loves it. Recently, I have been getting a lot of blue requests.

5. My first car was a White Jeep Cherokee. My first car that I made my own payments for was a navy Jetta.  And I drove a yellowish-orange Beetle in between.

mom embroidered pocket tees

Y'all know that I love easy but cute dressing. I also love a great tee and a budget friendly find. And I love the slouchy boyfriend style, but now with adorable embroidered detailing. This, to me, makes the tee look high end and more pulled together than your favorite {real} boyfriend tee.

white bow toddler girl shoes

I get lots of questions about Madrid's style. I love seeing little girls cultivate their clothing choices, as it is such an individual combination of what their parents like and what they think is their style. Madrid, at almost three, is very opinionated about her fashion and I couldn't be more excited that she prefers to dress extremely girly. She is already stealing my shoes and loves being in my closet. I wonder where she gets it from...

I get a lot of questions about the best toddler shoes. I have loved her in PEDIPEDS and I love the style of them. They are comfy with and without socks and come in multiple styles and colors {I love these for dressier days}. Sadly, the cuter style are meant for smaller feet, but I have recently fell in love with this brand for playground friendly shoes, and they come in navy! I just ordered this dark denim pair for school!

monogrammed key chain wallet

I had a similar key chain in collage. Your student ID was the key to campus {literally!}. It got you into the gym, purchased items at the bookstore {hello SendHome!}, granted you access into your sorority house and of course, got you into the library. Therefore, I had one of these, complete with my sorority monogram.

Because I literally have my hands full and have lost my keys and credit card more than once with two little ones in tow, I decided to bring the wallet key chain back. Complete with my monogram, I have yet to loose my keys or credit card since I purchased this for myself. I am all about simplifying my mom life, and if that means more monograms, I am all for it!

easy mom makeup

This summer has been all about no makeup for me. One time, I counted and I existed 8 days in a row with no makeup. I have recently re-realized that a little mascara goes a long way, especially for my blonde eyelashes. Therefore, the above has been my go to makeup look for summer.

como tomo teething toy

This was Madrid's favorite toy when she was Leo's age. My mom's new puppy, at the time, loved it as well, so it was constantly getting replaced. Now it is one of my favorite's due to its cheap price and small size. Perfect for all of our summer travels and easy to throw in the diaper bag!

While those of you that have been following along for a while, know that I have a shopping problem, y'all also know that I love a great basic.

I feel in love with this jacket in navy at the Nordstrom Sale, but when I realized that it also came in black, blush and powder blue, for the first time, navy wasn't the obvious choice {more color and size options here}! I love the idea of this paired over a long cashmere turtleneck in the cooler months, over a cocktail dress and with simple basics, like I paired it with here. Mixing the feminine sleeves with the unassuming distressed shorts that I have lived in all summer made me feel like a "cool" mom.

pineapple print pjs

I am firm believer in a good set of pjs. As my last time breast feeding will be ending soon {when?, you ask...not quite sure...}, I have recently cleaned out my pajama collection, getting rid of pjs that I didn't necessarily like, but were extremely nursing friendly. As I am still breast feeding first thing in the morning, my current favorites do lend themselves to this, but are cuter and more my style when this time of life does end for the last time.

These PINEAPPLE PJS were too cute not to pass up! They were recently restocked in all sizes and come in a navy pair with more coverage.

once a day baby journal

These BABY JOURNAL are often one of the first things I recommend new moms to get, moms with toddlers or a recommended shower gift for a pregnant friend. It does seem time consuming, and can be frustrating at times when you forget to do a week, and have to rack your mommy brain for all the adorable things that happened the prior week....BUT I have already loved going over things that have happened with both children. I have one for each, each day's entry is a sentence or two and the stories and milestones are worth their weight in gold when you go back over prior years.

arcona

I, like most moms, tend to change my skin care routine quite frequently. I have a gnarly pregnancy/ breast feeding mask from two pregnancies in two years and am constantly trying to find breast feeding friendly products that I like, but also work. These ARCONA PADS are one of my all time favorite beauty finds and they provide an instant refresh. I use them first thing after washing my face, both night and day.

best baby sunscreen

Also, like most moms, I have tried my fair share of baby products. I have tried all the obvious brands, but BABYGANICS SUNSCREEN is by far my favorite sunscreen. As a first time mom, I went out and bought all sunscreens that said baby on them, only to do my research and realize that these products were great at marketing but quite harmful for your children. Just because it says 'Baby' on it, doesn't mean it is safe!

This sunscreen has the best coverage, non greasy or sticky formula and is harm free. I literally use nothing else for me or my family. Plus, the size and price make it last forever. I use it daily and think that I am just now at the bottom of the first one and you've seen that we have been going to the pool multiple times a week.

best baby teether

As you've seen on Insta Stories, Little Man is teething. While everything that you hand to him, and everything that you don't, ends up in his mouth, I have found that he prefers this TEETHER. It is soft, BPA free and massages his gums and gets him ready to start brushing his teeth. {Also, picked up this one from Target.}

Y'all know that I recently cannot get enough white.
It dawned on me that while completely unconventional with two little kiddos, my growing collection of white sneakers might soon be under scrutiny with the whole "no white shoes after Labor Day rule."

Nevertheless, when I spotted this budget friendly top, I couldn't click 'Purchase' quickly enough. I don't remember when I first came across this extremely budget friendly and on trend brand, but it is has quickly become a line that I look for when shopping. Not sponsored, but you know I love to share my shopping obsessions!

5 THINGS

1. I lived in Rome for the summer after college. I thought I wanted to go work for the State Department and had an internship at the American Embassy. I picked the brains of any one higher than me to inquire about life in the State Department. Like most careers, most women told me that you had to choose between career success and a family.

2. I hate cooking but I do it everyday.

3. My office is a mess. I blame the kids, but how could they possibly create this much of a mess everyday?!?

4. I love to organize things and make piles. I often don't get past the pile phase into the putting away phase.

5. I am wildly passionate about sea mammals and will probably defriend you if you swim with dolphins. Or go to Seaworld. Add 'Blackfish' to your must watch movie list. Now.
