trends for cheap: knits and skirts

Y'all know, I love shopping. Like, a lot. Last week, I spent the better part of my days off to reorganize my closet to resemble a boutique. I figured by making it easier to see what I have, organizing it by color and storing items that I haven't worn in a while would make me appreciate what is in there more so.

With fall and all the fabulous trends, I'm finding it hard not to immediately hop onto my favorite sites {I check this, this and this.. daily... sometimes twice.} For the trend of skirts and knits, I encourage you to pair your favorite winter sweater that you recently pulled out of the back of your closet and pair it with your favorite skirt that you have been wearing all summer. The mix will be perfect and 100% you.

If you want a fresh take on this trend for this fall, check out this sweater for less than $100, this one for $50 and this fall friendly skirt for $18 {also love this quilted one for $18}.

blush and brown decor

It is surprising with this modern coffee table and dark brown accents how truly feminine this room is. I think I was inspired here.

chambray, leopard and tan

jeans // chambray // leopard scarf, sold out, similar lust worthy option, wallet friendly option // flats // sunglasses // purse // watch

All these items are basics in my closet, but I had never thought of pairing them together until our recent travels and I had packed them all for other outfits. This outfit worked perfectly all day into a wine and cheese infused dinner and boy, was it comfortable. This purse, {old, it was my college graduation gift to myself} does not get utilized enough but was the only purse I packed when I moved to New York City and it always makes my suitcase cut when traveling to Europe {a zipper is a must!}. There is something about quilted black leather that easily goes day to night. {This one tends to get more use in my day to day life...}

blush and brown

Fall, my favorite season for fashion, will all about mixing textures and this combination is all too perfect for my favorite time of year.

mint and stripes

top {$58} // jeans {$298, $173} // shoes {$625} // similar sunglasses {$312} //
necklace // bracelets, vintage and Hermes

I really need a stripe intervention. I'm obsessed. This top adds a little flair due to the silk fabric, but still has everything I look for in a top: stripes, comfort and the perfect sleeve.

top it off

I have to give myself a high-five: my goal was to be better about sun protection this summer and I think that I have succeeded. {I even got through and entire long weekend at in the pool for a bachelorette and didn't get burned. That never happens.}

Along with the rest of the blogger community, I love Gal Meet Glam and have been mildly obsessed with Julia'a pairing of delicate dresses with big rimmed hats. I think the look will be super cute and versatile for fall.

Shop my picks below.
{Hint: they range form $18 for the "maybe I'll wear it once" to $350 for those completely committed to this look. enjoy!}

As y'all know, stripes are my vice.  {confession: I have this horrible habit of buying a favorite item in every color possible. I did this with this shirt. Oops.} I paired my new favorite tee with an old faithful skirt that, surprisingly, works year around {last seen here}. I look forward to wearing this outfit again with boots, like these ones, once the weather cools down.

Have a great Thursday!

sunnies {$300} // necklace {$150} // quilted skirt {$80} // cashmere {$188, currently 25% off with code fall style} // heels {$625} // Victoria Beckham purse {$1850}

While I was in Paris and London during fashion week, after stalking the street style and video feeds of the fashion shows, I am currently inspired of what I would wear to New York Fashion week, also known as what I will be wearing this fall.

This TopShop quilted skirt is my find of my London shopping. At less than $100, I could not resist getting it in both black and white. Also, while shopping, I came across the Victoria Beckham bags and can I just say, they are a must see! As seen here, my purse style is minimalist, thus I immediatly swooned for the delicious leather, structured shape and timeless style. How fun would it be to break up this nuetral outfit?

I'm blushing

I'm blushing...for this jacket. It would be perfect as we transition into fall.
Hope your week is off to a great start!

striped blazer

blazer {$188, $120} // top, old, similar here {$170, $89} // J.Brand Skinnies {$191} // Flats {$160, $135} // Similar sunglasses {$330} // bracelets, Hermes and vintage // Lipstick

For y'all that know me, and even those who I've never met, know that I've never met a stripe nor a blazer that I didn't like {as seen on my Pinterest). So imagine my delight to find this blazer in my favorite school boy cut. I'm a little confused on how to dress it up for fall, but think with some grey knit, like this one and some boots, it will transition as the temperature begins to drop.

Guest Post: The Fashionable Wife

Hi Navy & Orange readers!  I’m Nikki of The Fashionable Wife.  I am so excited to be guest posting for Hunter.

With fall around the corner, it is time to start transitioning from summer to fall.  It can be a little bit challenging when the weather is still warm but you are wanting to start wearing more fall clothing.

This look is a great transition look for fall.  Chambray shirts are a year round go to item for me- I probably wear mine once a week.  It is light enough to wear during the warm months, but easy to layer over or under.

Leopard print is another great transition piece for fall.  Although leopard is looks good anytime, I find that it is the perfect print to give a late summer look a fall touch.
